We are proud to present to you the list of news stories that had the title X is the new Y from around the world in the month of January.

Clarification: An X is the new Y phrase where  Y is something that X can actually be are disqualified from this list.  For example, "Pelosi is the new  Speaker" is  not a snowclone, but  "Iran is the new Iraq" qualifies.

Left is the new right seems to be the neologism in vogue these days. Technically, phrases such as "white is the new black" and "60 is the new 40" are called snowclones. In January alone, approximately 150 news stories had that title. We decided to make a list of them to show how widespread it is.

This work was inspired by a diagram documenting every instance of the phrase "is the new" encountered from various sources  that appeard on reddit.
